Eddie was born in Fort Qu' Appelle, Saskatchewan in 1902. It was in 1907 that T.J. Shore (Eddie's father) moved the family to a six section farm outside of Cupar.

Eddie began learning his hockey skills on a 44' x 100' outdoor rink in Cupar.

In 1911, T.J. Shore financed the first enclosed rink in Cupar and it is said that part of the agreement of financing the rink was that
Eddie be given a key.

Eddie played for Cupar senior hockey teams until 1923-1924.
